EXERCISE 11
Creating a Skeleton
Begin writing freely on the topic of âthe bridgeâ. Just see where your memories take you. THEN analyse what you have written, breaking it down into emotions and other topics. Then take one of the other topics you find and use it as inspiration for further pieces of memory writing. Repeat. This kind of exercise can go on more or less forever. If you kept fanning out from one piece to the next, you could end up with the skeleton of a book of memoir. The key is to write shortish pieces, to keep yourself alert and interested and looking out for the next topic and the next.
